As a child I always dreamed of being an artist. I was always drawing or doing something that involved color. I drew on anything that was available. It didn’t matter what it was. I left my drawings all over the place. I remember one Thanksgiving, there was a turkey contest. I had to draw a turkey and take it to the store. It was put in the front window of the market by the owner. Every day, I’d pass by the window and just stare at my drawing. I felt so proud having something that I drew be on display for others to look at. I would show anyone passing by what turkey drawing was mine. They would nod and look. They would tell me that they hoped I’d win the turkey contest. Of course, it was not to be. I didn’t win and I don’t know what happened to the drawing. I really thought my turkey was the best drawn one. But years later, I realize it was not the best drawing that would win, but whom you knew that mattered. I did go to art school and become an artist. Till this day I still draw. As a matter of fact, this morning on my computer, I was drawing on the computer program I have. No real paint is used, but it’s just like real painting. I can paint anything I want in any color and save it to send to friends as cards or pieces of art work. It’s a fantastic program! Just the program I need to fill in the empty hours of my life. And no one can take a knife to the paintings and rip them; as has been done to my paintings in the past by the gang stalkers. Painting is in my soul.
