I remember reading the book “1984”.  I picked it up one day at the library.  I had to do a book report for my 8th grade class and the title of the book  attracted me.  There weren’t too many books with a year as its title.

At the time I read the book, what the author wrote did not really sink in.   But I recently re-read it and could not believe how close to my current life the book is.

I’m sure a lot of you read the book, or know about it.

If you haven’t read the book, the year is 1984.  The name of the place is Oceania (England). Oceania is run by a totalitarian government.

A man by the name of  Winston Smith lives in Oceania in a rundown apartment building. He’s 39-years old, sickly, and works for the government in the Ministry of Truth.  His job is to change the history of Oceania and make it appear to be true, even though it is not.  The government wants to make people believe that everything it said has always come true.   If  people believe the government has always been right, it is easier to convince them that what the government says is true.  It makes it easier for the government to rule the people and not have them question the government on anything.

So people in Oceania don’t doubt anything the government says and live in a world where the government controls all their actions.

At the beginning, Winston Smith believed everything the government said, but he begins to have doubts about what  the truth really is.

The government watches the people 24/7, and is known as Big Brother.  Big Brothers takes care of everything.  It creates food shortages to inflame hatred of the people toward the people known as proles.  It also forbids sexual contact.  And every day, the government has two-minute hate rallies.  It rallies the people against rival nations and people.  It encourages children to take part in the rallies.

Now, if you’ve read the book, you know the things that happen in the book are very much like the things  the government is doing to us.

Our government turns people against us; it denies us sexual freedom.  We can’t engage in sex with anyone because we’re constantly watched.  It turns children against us.  We have 24 hour surveillance.  Big Brother is always watching us.  Just as in the book, we have cameras watching us.  We have to be very careful of what we say and watch, because it will be held against us.  As in the book, the “thought police” are listening to everything we say.

The government creates sexual frustration in us and incites people to hate us.  The frustration builds up in us and eventually the government hopes we’ll take our frustration out  against other people. The government can then put us away in prison  or put us in a mental health facility.

That’s how the government in the book keeps the people in line.  And that’s how our government today keeps the people in line. Turning us against each other instead of  turning us against the government.

This way, the government can go ahead and do what it wants and the people will not protest anything it’s does.

The people turn their frustration toward the targets instead of turning their frustration toward the government.  The government gets a free pass.

The book “1984” is so current as to what’s happening today that’s it’s scary.  It gives me chills to think that what was written as fiction is coming true.

George Orwell was way ahead of his time.

I recommend you read “1984” again, or if you’ve never read it, read it.  You’ll see your life in this book.   “1984” has finally arrived.  And we targets are part of it.

Remember:  BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU.

Think of all the books you read, or movies you saw, and write a review of your favorite (or favorites).

Recently someone recommended to me that I see “Billy Elliot“.  The person who recommended this movie usually recommends movies that are very good.  So I decided to get “Billy Elliot”.

I put the movie on, and Lord and behold, it’s a British movie.  No insult to the English, but every time I’ve seen an English movie, I almost fall asleep.  They usually speak very slowly, and pronunciation is perfect.  And I thought to myself, oh, God, why an English movie?

For the first ten minutes, I thought  that this was a movie I probably would not finish.  But as time went on, I was on the edge of my seat looking forward to what was going to happen next.

The movie takes place in England in the year 1984-1985.  It is about an English boy, Billy, who’s taken by his father to a boxing gym to be taught how to  become a fighter.  Billy has no interest in learning to fight, but he goes to the  gym to please his father.  One day when he enters the gym, there is a ballet class going on next to the gym.  Billy watches the dancers and becomes intrigued with ballet dancing.  So instead of going to the gym, he spends all his time watching the dancers.  He spends so much watching the dancers, he’s asked if he would like to join the group. He  decides he wants to learn  to dance.  He does not tell his father about the dancing lessons.   He tells his father he’s still going to the gym.

This is where the story gets interesting.  He has to hide the fact that he’s dancing from his father, because he knows his father and brother would not be happy with his dancing.

While Billy’s  off dancing, his father and brother are on strike.  They’re both miners, and the mine in which they work is going out of business.

But I won’t go into more detail, but it’s a movie you should definitely see.  I highly recommend it. I went from not wanting to see it to  recommending it; that’s how good it is.  If you’re a woman, you’ll definitely need some tissues to wipe away the tears. And if you’re a man, the son/father relationship will make you think about what’s important in life.  Run to get the video.

Gang Stalking – Off Topic – Do you think Shakespeare existed?

Do you think Shakespeare existed? Or are there just too many plays and sonnets credited to him to be the work of one person?

I knew a lot about Shakespeare’s plays because I studied Shakespeare in an advanced English class. I did not know anything about his life. It was never discussed, now that I think about it.

So I decided to check out Shakespeare’s life.  What life?  The man doesn’t seemed to have existed.  No one knows where he was born.  And no one seems to know the date he was born.  It also stated that Shakespeare was Italian, not English.  His parents were Italian and left Italy because of the chaos.  Shakespeare changed his name when he grew older to an English name.

But no one seems to really know anything about him.

When reading about Shakespeare, it  said he was a drunk.  A lot of his plays are of royalty.  From the impression I got of reading about him, he was a very simple man, and not well-educated.  How did he know what went on in the royal court?  How did he know about traveling?

A lot of biographers stated his parents were farmers, and he hung out with very poor people. It says nothing about Shakespeare getting an education.   How could a man who was not educated write such plays and sonnets?  Others state he came from a well-to-do family.  Everything I read about Shakespeare’s life is a contradiction.

You would think if a person came from a well-to-do family, there be a lot more information about him.  Well-to-do families are very strong on family history.  They want to make sure their  family name lives on.

Even when Shakespeare died is a mystery.  It seems he died from different causes.  Several state  fever from drinking.  Others state cerebral hemorrhage.  And they’re not sure of the date.

The one sure thing I know about Shakespeare is that I learned nothing about Shakespeare.

Did he exist?  I’m leaning toward not.  But who knows?  Anyway, even if he didn’t exist, he got the credit for writing all the plays and sonnets.  And whoever really wrote them got screwed.  The more I think about Shakespeare, the more I think the plays and sonnets were not written by one man, but by a group of different people.
