In our individual lives, and international politics, when is it acceptable to strike first? Is it ever okay? Or are there only special circumstances that justify it?
Have you ever attacked someone first? How do you feel about it? Or are there times in your life that you used restraint, that now, looking back, you wish you hadn’t?
It all depends on the circumstances whether someone strikes first or not. If you know someone is going to cause you harm, and you see it coming, then it’s okay to strike first to protect yourself. Or if you know someone who makes nasty remarks directed at you, and you know that person will insult you, then it’s okay to make a remark first and stop it.
I’ve never personally attacked someone first. I always wait till someone strikes first before I respond in kind. I can say I react to what people do to me. There have been times when I’ve restrained myself from striking first, even though I really wanted to strike first. From reading this blog, you might get the impression that I’m a mean human being, but I’m not. I really do try to be as kind to people as I can be. It takes a lot to really get me riled up. Believe me, with all the abuse I have to put up with every single minute, I’m a saint!
