Gang Stalking – Off Topic – PostaDay 2011 – Do you think global warming is real? Why or Why not?

Bonus: When and how did you come to the conclusion? Did you consider both sides equally before you came to your opinion? Or was that not necessary for you in this case?

When I first heard of global warming, I thought the people who believed in global warming were a bunch of crackpots.  But over the years, I’ve changed my mind.  To me global warming does exist.  I’ve read a lot of articles pro and con.  And the more I’ve read, the  more I’m convinced global warming is for real.

I truly was convinced when I saw a photo the astronauts took from space.  The photo showed a hole in the ozone layer.  Something else that convinced me global warming is for real is when I saw a National Geographic film on polar bears losing their habitat.  The ice was melting and the bears had to search high and low for a place to stay cool.  And sometimes, they were too far from ice caps and eventually ended up dead.  Another thing that convinced me is the weather patterns we’ve been experiencing.  Tsunamis, tornadoes,  hurricanes. earthquakes, cyclones are happening a lot more often.  These things have always happened, not in such large numbers.

And who is to blame for all this global warming? It is not the sun. Though the  sun’s rays may play a small role, it is not to blame.  The ones that are to blamed are us.   We humans are to blame.  The United Nations put a group together called International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and they came up  with the reasons for climate change: 1) It comes from the combustion of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity production. 2)  Methane released from landfills and agriculture (especially from the digestive system of grazing animals),  nitrous oxide from fertilizers, gases used for refrigerators and industrial processes.  3) The loss of forests that otherwise would store CO2.

My belief that global warming is happening is also from personal experience.  I remember when I was a kid, every year I would be sent to camp for a whole month.  At night-time it was so dark, I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.  Now, no matter where you go, it is never too dark.  You can see your hand wherever you go. The earth seems a lot brighter than it used to be.  So it has to be global warming that has caused this change.

Gang Stalking – Off Topic – PostaDay 2011 – Are you happy or sad that Space Shuttle is finished?

Tomorrow is the last mission for Endeavour. Does it make you happy, sad, or indifferent? Why?

I was just watching the Endeavour on the launch pad. It’s a beautiful shuttle to me. But what do I know? I’m not a scientist. They might think differently.

As I watched the Endeavour, it made me sad we’ll never see it zooming up into space again. This is the last time. But, of course, if everything goes well, we can see it at a museum. So for that I’m happy. Good luck, Endeavour!

I was reading some comments re the Endeavour. People making really nasty remarks about how big a waste the space program is and how much money was wasted and how many lives were lost. The astronauts that died in space exploration did it willingly knowing that they were advancing scientific discovery in space and they willing took the chance. And I’m sure if they had to do it again, they would do it again. There hasn’t been a  time in history where exploration hasn’t led to someone’s death. That’s what happens when discoveries are  made. If we had stopped every program because there was a death, we wouldn’t have gotten too far in our explorations. It’s sad that some astronauts had to die, but from their deaths came knowledge.

So, I’ll say again. I’ll be sad to see the last of Endeavour.

Safe journey to all the astronauts and Endeavour. You are all heroes.

By the way, Endeavour is supposed to be taking off at 8:56 a.m. (E.D.T) tomorrow. I’ll be watching. Will you?
