If I had only a minute to grab some things, what would I take? I’ve asked myself this question before. And I know exactly what I would take.
The furniture, food and other things like that, I can easily replace. But there are some things which would be a lot harder to restore. Some you can never replace. First, I would run and get all my I.D. and, of course, personal family pictures. Some pictures of family can never be recovered. Like photos of my mother. If her photos were ruined, I wouldn’t be able to restore them. And that would really upset me. She’s no longer alive and every photo of her is like a precious gem.
And, of course, today without I.D., you just don’t exist. Go somewhere today without I.D. and you won’t get very far. Try to renew your driver’s license without a photo I.D. and see what that gets you. Or try to buy something on your credit or debit card without I.D. Today, a lot more stores are checking your I.D. when you buy something. No I.D., no luck buying something. You can always go to the bank and get cash from the ATM, but that would be an inconvenience if you are not near one.
If a minute wasn’t long enough to get both my I.D. or family photos, I would run to get the family photos of my mother. I.D. can eventually be replaced all sort of ways, but family photos very rarely. And the rest of the stuff, I wouldn’t worry about.
